Announcements
ECW Greenery is in. Please pick up your order in Ms. Kitty’s classroom. Someone will be there on Saturday from 9 am until Noon and again on Sunday during Sunday School time. You can also pick up during church office hours.

Doors of Hope Transition Ministries host A Holiday House Tour ($20), Saturday, December 2 from 10 AM to 3 PM. Proceeds support their work to help homeless families with minor children become self-sufficient! Take a walking tour, hear stories, and view the holiday decorations at six beautiful and unique homes in Oxford’s South Lamar Historic District. Tickets available in the church office.

Giving Tree: Please pick an ornament and sign your name and phone number on the corresponding number on the sign up board. The presents need to be wrapped with the ornament attached and returned to the church by noon on Wednesday December 13. If you prefer to give a donation, please put it in an envelope and label it for the Giving Tree. Please come and get an ornament to help a child have a good Christmas. If you have any questions you can contact the church office at 234-1269. Please do not take an ornament without returning a gift.

Poinsettias: As is our custom, we are asking for donors of poinsettias to decorate the church Christmas Eve through the first Sunday after Christmas. The cost is $15 each, and the sign-up sheet is outside the church office. Please include the names for dedicating the gift in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Please sign up no later than noon on Friday, December 15 in order to be listed in the Christmas bulletins. Poinsettias may be removed by their donors any time after the services on December 31.

Staff Christmas Gift It is our tradition to provide a Christmas gift to our staff, who are so very important to us. If you would like to contribute, please see Leslie Banahan or drop off a donation at the church office by Monday, December 18.

Advent Lessons and Carols –Please join us for our annual Advent Lessons and Carols Service on Sunday, December 3 at 9 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The format of the service, modeled after the one from King’s College, Cambridge, is a time-honored tradition of lessons, hymns, carols, and anthems that tell of the prophecy of Christ’s coming and birth.

55+ Luncheon will be Thursday, December 7, at noon. Program will be presented by Kathleen and Jeff Taylor of Sweet T’s Bakery. Please come and enjoy the meal and entertainment. Cost is only $10.00.

The Shop of the Three Blessings: Patricia Krueger and Anne Steel will open The Shop of the Three Blessings during Coffee Time on all four Sundays of Advent. Here’s how the Shop works: you make a gift to one of the church’s outreach ministries in the name of a friend or loved one, and then you select one of the Shop’s homemade cards to give to that person to signify the gift. You may also buy cards in the church office, or you may call Patricia Krueger at 816-3455 or Anne Steel at 801-0682 and buy them directly from her.

Special Advent Offerings: Tea and Mediations on Monday, December 4, 11, and 16 at 5 p.m. and Listening to Scripture in Advent, Wednesday, December 6, 13, and 20 at 7:00 p.m.

A Tisket, A Tasket help fill the kitchen basket! Ann and Jerry Whitaker’s daughter, Alice, is to be married in December. Because Alice does not live close by, most of us will be unable to wish her well in person. To show the love of St. Peter’s, you are invited to lace a kitchen item in the designated basket in the Parish Hall. You may duplicate your favorite kitchen item or visit their registry: https://registry.theknot.com/alice-whitaker-william-tallent-december-2017-tn/19580859 . The basket and the love it contains will be ready and waiting to stock Alice and Will’s kitchen. No need to wrap or tag—just place in the basket between now and December 14.

An Advent Service of Lessons and Carols in Water Valley, Saturday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Please join us for this shared offering between First UMC and Nativity, Water Valley!
